National Park Week 2015 Encourages Everyone To Find Your Park

SALEM, MA
–Salem Maritime National Historic Site and Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site joins parks, programs and partners across the country to encourage everyone to find their park and share their stories online at FindYourPark.com. Launched yesterday by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, Find Your Park is a public awareness and education campaign celebrating the milestone centennial anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016 and setting the stage for its second century of service

Find Your Park invites the public to see that a national park can be more than a place -- it can be a feeling, a state of mind, or a sense of American pride. Beyond vast landscapes, the campaign highlights historical, urban, and cultural parks, as well as the National Park Service programs that protect, preserve and share nature, culture, and history in communities nationwide. Watch the campaign launch video.

"Find Your Park" is also the theme for this year's National Park Week, April 18 –26. Visitors to Salem Maritime National Historic Site can enjoy free ranger-led tours, a Junior Ranger Program, the free award-winning film "Where Past is Present" and a comprehensive audio-walking tour of the 9-acre site. Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site opens to the public on May 1st with free public tours, live demonstrations and education programs.

"National Park Week is all about visiting and exploring our 407 national parks," said Zach Bolitho, Acting Superintendent. "These parks belong to you and each of them offers an opportunity to learn, reflect and relax within an inspiring place. We're fortunate to have sixteen national park areas in Massachusetts, including both Salem Maritime and Saugus Iron Works National Historic Sites, so there is a park out there for everyone."
