The Custom House Eagle

The carved wooden eagle on the roof of the Custom House was added in 1826. It was carved by Salem craftsman Joseph True, and its original cost was $50.00.

In 2004, the original eagle was replaced with a fiberglass replica. After restoration work is completed, the original eagle will be displayed in the Custom House.
