Education programs at Salem Maritime engage all the senses! Here, students explore trade connections in early America.

This section of the website is for information about educational opportunities at Salem Maritime National Historic Site.

Use the links above or at the side to explore the following:

  • Select plan a field trip to learn about our new curriculum-based education program for grade 5 and various ranger guided tours and programs for all ages and grade levels.
  • Select curriculum materials for our on-line classroom lesson plan.

New for 2011! Salem Maritime National Historic Site, in partnership with Schooner Fame, has created a new elementary education program in order to better connect students to the mission and stories of the National Park Service and our Park. The program assists Massachusetts educators in meeting curriculum requirements of the MA Department of Education standards. This program requires direct teacher and chaperone involvement. More information on Salem Sets Sail: Ships, Sailors and the Sea can be found in the plan a field trip section of the site.

We welcome input on any and all aspects of our education programming. Our goal is to engage all Americans in making enduring connections to America's special places. Please contact Education Specialist Maryann Zujewski by email or by phone at 978-740-1662.

We will be adding more information about programs and curriculum materials as time goes on, so please check back often!
