Salem Maritime offers three different orientation films, each with a different look at the history of the area: To the Farthest Port of the Rich East is an 18 minute orientation film on the history of Salem's maritime trade and traditions. Spanning a period of three centuries, the story of maritime Salem is a stirring saga of humans using the sea. This is a story of merchant adventurers and mariners, whose enterprise and daring transformed a tiny, uncertain settlement into a major international seaport. Cost: Free Theatre Seating: 50 Where Past is Present is a 27 minute film detailing 300 years of the history of Essex County. Three major themes are explored including early settlement, maritime history, and the industrial revolution. Come see what makes Essex County a National Heritage Area. Cost: Free Theatre seating: 250 Salem Witch Hunt: Examine the Evidence features authentic dialogue and the latest research by renowned Salem Witch Trial scholars. Scenes depicted in the film were shot at actual locations associated with the Witch Trials of 1692. Presented by the Essex National Heritage Area and the National Park Service.
