News Release

Superintendent Walter J. Chavez announced today that Castillo San Cristobal will stay open until 7:00pm every Friday effective July 5th, 2013. "We are hoping that this will provide our visitors with more time to explore or participate in a ranger guided program at San Cristobal on busy Friday nights in Old San Juan" said Superintendent Chavez. This later closing on Fridays will replace the late closing on Tuesdays and will be in effect until further notice. "We have had to eliminate Tuesday nights late closing and we hope that this change will allow more visitors to visit the fortifications on what appears to be one of the busiest nights in Old San Juan" added Superintendent Chavez.

Come join us for an early evening, ranger guided program or to enjoy the fortification at sunset on a Friday night. Visitors are encouraged to visit our website often for information on special activities such as the 9th Annual Artisan Fair which will be held at Castillo San Felipe del Morro in July and Public Lands Day in September. Also, the park participates in several fee free days throughout the year, where visitors can enjoy both fortifications at no cost. These dates are also listed on our website. (www.nps.gov/saju)
