San Juan National Historic Site announces their annual spring clean up activity on the beach of Castillo San Cristobal. Volunteers are invited to participate in the beach clean-up which is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m... This stretch of beach sits on the north side of Castillo San Cristobal and features the historic Garita del Diablo and the community of La Perla. Cleaning this beach contributes to caring for our environment as well as safeguarding our historical resources.

Volunteers should meet at 8:45AM at the Castillo San Cristóbal Plaza on Calle Norzagaray. Volunteers will be grouped in teams for cleaning up specific sections of the beach. Cleaning equipment and water will be provided to volunteers while supplies last. Participants are asked to wear appropriate shoes and be prepared to walk over uneven surfaces. It is also suggested to wear a hat and to dress appropriately for inclement weather conditions.

Volunteers will be given the opportunity to visit the Castillos free of charge after participating in the activity. Children are invited to stay after the clean up to participate in the parks new Jr. Ranger program. This program teaches environmental ethics and local history through fun activities and upon completion children are presented with their own Jr. Ranger Badge.

You are all invited to experience the Garita del Diablo and the massive north walls of San Cristobal from the shore while proud fully and joyfully ensuring the beach is cleaned. All interested volunteers, community groups or sponsors please call 787-729-6777 during working hours for signing up or getting additional information on the clean up.
