LOWER PATIO - LEVEL III - The enlisted men had their quarters in the casemated rooms on this lower level, and in the spaces under the Great Ramp are their kitchens, latrines, and a blacksmith's forge for cannon repairs. In battle, cannon would be emplaced to fire out to sea from these casemates.
