CASEMATES - These vaulted rooms, called casemates, were used as quarters for soldiers and storage space. The two casemates nearest the city were the kitchen and latrines, The reconstructed 18th century cannon which you see reminds us that cannon placed here could fire at enemy ships approached the entrance to San Juan's harbor.
