Welcome to Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site! The staff are committed to ensuring your safety while visiting the park.
 

Tips for Visiting Safely and Protecting the Park:

  • Do not climb on the waterwheels or other historic machinery.
  • Do not walk or play on the slag pile—the slag and iron flakes can cause severe cuts.
  • Do not leave children unattended adjacent to the turning basin and Saugus River due to the water hazard.
  • Do not leave children unattended near waterwheels and mills due to the potential for injury from moving machinery.
  • Be careful of poison ivy and bees.
