Junior Rangers

Work together or adventure on your own, this youth focused program is your one-page guide to your National Park! The Junior Ranger Guide can be completed in-person, online, or by using the National Park Service App.

The program consists of prompts to "Explore!" "Learn!" "Protect!" and transforms the Junior Ranger into a group facilitator. Valuing time spent together, the guide provides 3 questions to create connections while leaving space to explore on your own time. With hundreds of years of history, from historic preservation, indigenous culture, to biodiversity, there is something for every adventurer to discover at Saugus Iron Works.

To be a Junior Ranger, you need to: receive your badge, create your own adventure, and share what you found special with your exploration group! While designed and targeted towards youth visitors, Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site does not place age limitations on the program, anyone can be a Junior Ranger.

Download your copy of the the Junior Ranger Guide in English and Spanish.

Visitor services at Saugus Iron Works NHS are closed for the season, but the grounds remain open. If you would like to request a Junior Ranger badge please

Every Kid in a Park

Every Kid in a Park is an initiative that provides entrance passes into National Park sites for 4th Graders and their families. All you have to do is play this game, and then go to a participating park that can give you your pass!* (You also must be in 4th grade, and present when you get the pass.) In addition to providing passes to 4th Graders, Every Kid in a Park also helps teachers, and provides resources for field trips that schools may otherwise not have the resources for. Explore this amazing program!

*Because the Saugus Iron Works is free, we do not distribute the passes.
