Saguaro National Park's Tucson Mountain District (West) will offer a three-day Junior Ranger Wilderness Exploration Day Camp for ages 10 to 14 years old. The dates for the camp are Thursday through Saturday, February 23-25, 2012. The camp includes a variety of exciting, hands-on activities such as hiking, exploring, compass and map reading, learning how a GPS helps with navigation through the desert and an exhilarating night hike through the magic of the desert after dark.

Saguaro National Park will host a Beat Back Buffelgrass event at the Park's Tucson Mountain District (Saguaro West) on January 28, 2012. Hundreds of volunteers will join the fight against this growing environmental problem for the 5th Annual Beat Back Buffelgrass Day, including Coach Mike Candrea and the University of Arizona's Women's Softball Team.

Saguaro National Park will be joining along with other national park units across the country to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a fee-free entry into the park this holiday weekend. This year, the fee-free designation will apply to the entire MLK weekend -Saturday, Sunday and Monday, January 14 through 16.

Saguaro National Park is seeking volunteers to attend the 5th annual Weed Free Trails program orientation on January 14, 2012. The goal of Weed Free Trails program is to monitor the Saguaro National Park trails network from invasive plants primarily through volunteer assistance.
