MAPPING THE PACIFIC COAST: FROM CORONADO TO LEWIS AND CLARK EXHIBIT EXTENDED THROUGH NOVEMBER
In the Maritime Museum, 900 Beach Street, at the foot of Polk. Open daily, 10am-4pm. Information: 415-447-5000. Wheelchair accessible.
Mapping The Pacific Coast: From Coronado to Lewis and Clark, the world-class travelling exhibit of historical maps, books, and illustrations, originally slated to end October 31, has been extended through November. Maps begin with the very first exploration to California and the West Coast by Europeans. Includes an audio tour narrated by collector Henry Wendt. There is no charge for the audio tour.

PORCHLIGHT: A STORYTELLING SERIES, PRESENTS "EPIC FAIL: STORIES ABOUT EXPERIMENTATION AND FAILURE"

The San Francisco Maritime National Park Association, in conjunction with the Bay Area Science festival, presents Epic Fail: Stories About Experimentation and Failure, with bestselling author Gail Carriger, television host Adam Savage, physicist and inventor Nicholas Sheridon, bestselling author Scott Sigler, and machine artisan Kal Spelletich.

HANK CRAMER AND BRIAN MASKEW SEA MUSIC CONCERT
Saturday, November 5, 3:00-4:30pm, aboard Balclutha. Historic vessels boarding fees apply: Adults, $5. Ages 15 and under, free. Free with national park passes. No reservations. Boarding passes available at the Hyde Street Pier ticket booth, located halfway along the pier. Boarding passes are good for 7 days from date of purchase. Information 415-447-5000. Wheelchair accessible.
Chantey singers Hank Cramer and Brian Maskew, on tour from Washington State, will perform songs of seafarers in this special afternoon appearance. They are engaging performers, known for their strong voices, understanding of seafaring history and lore, and for their repertoire of both popular and rare traditional songs.

HOLDSTOCK AND MACLEOD SEA MUSIC CONCERT
Saturday, November 19, 8pm, aboard Balclutha. Tickets: $14 general, $12 San Francisco Maritime National Park Association members. The 23rd annual evening Sea Music Concert Series concludes in grand style with internationally recognized sea music performers Holdstock and Macleod. Performing together for over 30 years, Dick Holdstock and Allan Macleod captivate audiences with authentic renditions of songs from their native homelands of England and Scotland. Trading off on guitar and mandolin, their songs provide an extraordinary glimpse into a not so distant maritime past.

THE GREAT MUSEUM OF THE SEA: EXPLORING OUR HISTORY THROUGH UNDERWATER EXPLORATION

Join Dr. James Delgado, archaeologist, author, underwater explorer and director of NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries' Maritime Heritage Program on an undersea tour of some of America's most amazing shipwrecks, from lost Spanish Galleons, Revolutionary War ships, Civil War ironclads and submarines, immigrant steamers and working craft that were the backbone of the American economy. Dr. Delgado will talk about how underwater archaeology is adding to our understanding of history, solving mysteries, and connecting us to our heritage.
