The site of Westport Landing is in today's Kansas City, Missouri. Nine exhibits tell the story of the area from first contact with American Indians and fur trappers, through the trail era, and into today's modern metropolis.

Mule and ox drivers made day-to-day operations work on the historic Santa Fe Trail. Mexican arrieros (muleteers) were famous for their abilities. Oxen were favored to pull freight wagons.
