Dodge City Ruts
The Dodge City Ruts site is located west of Dodge City, Kansas, on Highway 50. The ruts are visible in the landscape, which can be seen from a boardwalk. There is also a kiosk of exhibits about Dodge City Ruts and where else you can travel east or west along the Santa Fe Trail. Did You Know?
In 1821, the eastern terminus of the historic Santa Fe Trail was Franklin, Missouri; by 1832, Independence, Missouri; and by 1845, at Westport Landing, now Kansas City, Missouri. Textiles and hardware were traded west; silver and mules were traded east.
