For Teachers

Welcome Educators!

"The purpose of Saint Croix Island International Historic Site is to conserve unimpaired the resources and values of Saint Croix Island, an area of historic significance to the people of the United States and Canada, for the enjoyment, education and inspiration of this and future generations."

- General Management Plan,
Saint Croix Island International Historic Site

An important aspect of the National Park Service mission is to offer educational opportunities to people of all ages. At Saint Croix Island International Historic Site, site interpretation on the mainland enriches visitor experiences. The National Park Service has also developed unique curriculum-based tools in the form of traveling teacher trunks.

Did You Know?
There are no visible traces of the early settlement left on Saint Croix Island, today part of Saint Croix Island IHS. When the decision was made to move the expedition to Port Royal, most of the buildings were dismantled, put onto the ships and moved and erected at the new site.
