In the early 1900s the St. Croix River north of Stillwater became known as "Little Venice" because of the scenery and solitude found among its tree-covered islands. Photographer, videographer, and historian John Runk scrupulously documented the history of Stillwater as a logging town. Enjoy "An Ode to Stillwater: The John Runk Films," put together by the Washington County Historical Society, at the Boomsite Wayside. This program is free, and open to the public.
