In the early 1900s the St. Croix River north of Stillwater became known as "Little Venice" because of the scenery and solitude found among its tree-covered islands. Photographer, videographer, and historian John Runk scrupulously documented the history of Stillwater as a logging town. Enjoy "An Ode to Stillwater: The John Runk Films," put together by the Washington County Historical Society, at the Boomsite Wayside. This program is free, and open to the public. For more information, call the St. Croix River Visitor Center at (715) 483-2274.
