Sections of the lower St. Croix River are running higher than normal for this time of year. Be prepared and cautious if venturing out on the river, and watch for debris and other obstacles in the water.

Beginning in 2013, water will no longer be available at McDowell Bridge Landing, Riverside Landing, and the Marshland District Office on Highway 70. Please plan accordingly and bring an adequate supply of water.

The Dakota and Ojibwe History of the St. Croix Valley
"For hundred years Ojibwe and Dakota people have interacted in the St. Croix Valley, through trade, intermarriage, and warfare. The rich record of this interaction is found in the earliest written records of the French and in the oral traditions of both tribes. Places like the Sunrise River, St. Croix Falls, and Catfish Bar, on Lake St. Croix near Afton, are among the many sites which bear the marks of that common history.
Bruce White is a historian and anthropologist, the author of "We Are at Home: Pictures of the Ojibwe People," and co-author of "Mni Sota Makoce: The Land of the Dakota. The presentation is free and open to the public. It will take place at the St. Croix River Visitor Center, 401 North Hamilton Street, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.
