Your Safety

Be aware of your surroundings while visiting Russell Cave. You should always be on the lookout for snakes and poison ivy when hiking. Remember, all wildlife, including snakes, are protected. Wear insect repellent if you plan to spend a lot of time on the trail. Always wear comfortable shoes, and stay on the marked trails at all times. 

Bring something for lunch if you are planning a several hour visit, and always have plenty of water with you.

Did You Know?
Most of the pottery found at Russell Cave is less than 2500 years old. Some pottery types lasted for hundreds of years while others were only used a few years. The last pottery used in the Cave was broken around A.D. 1500 to 1650.
