Junior Ranger Program

A Junior Ranger Program is available for children up to twelve years old.  Complete the junior ranger activities during your visit and receive an official Russell Cave Junior Ranger badge and certificate from a Park Ranger.

Museum 

The Museum area contains information about the history of the cave and replicas of artifacts that were found in the cave excavations.  Learn about the people who lived in the Cave Shelter 9000 years ago.

Videos
There are several movies that are available to watch during your visit.  These movies describe the lifeways of the people who lived at Russell Cave and the cave system itself.

Site 44 of the North Alabama Birding Trail is located at Russell Cave National Monument. Researchers have identified more than 115 species of birds at this site. This photo shows a blue gray gnatcatcher nesting in spring.
