Rocky Mountain National Park offers many rewarding volunteer opportunities year-round. Opportunities are updated weekly depending on park needs.

Volunteers Needed for the Winter

Road Crew - would you love to work outside in beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park? Do you want to contribute to give back to the park by improving the environment along park roads? Are you available on Mondays? This may be the opportunity for you. Road Hogs assist with fuels reduction, hazard tree removal, hauling rounds and removing slash. They cut and limb trees, buck logs, and cut brush if volunteer is certified as a sawyer. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and walk on uneven ground. Much of the work is physically demanding and done at elevations between 8,000 and 12,500 feet. Work days are typically 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Monday, weather permitting.

Library Cataloger - The ROMO Library is part of the greater NPS library system and the ROMO museum collections. Part of the requirements for NPS libraries is to have Library of Congress arrangement and catalog records. The ROMO Library is changing from the Dewey Decimal System to Library of Congress (LC) and needs a volunteer to help. The occupant of this position will not be responsible for the day to day management of the library. This is a full time position, 32-40 hours. Paid housing is available for the winter season. Experience and familiarity with Integrated Library Systems and Library of Congress cataloging is required. Voyager preferred. A Library Science degree and experience with cataloging government publications and scientific reports/theses is a plus, but not required.
