The Kawuneeche Valley is located on the west side of the park.
All programs are free and open to the public. Park entrance fees apply.
Ski the Wilderness in Winter
Saturdays, December 26, 2009 – January 30, 2010, 9:30 a.m., 1.5 hours
Reservations are required, and may be made no sooner than 7 days in advance.*
Ski a snow-draped landscape and learn about the Kawuneeche Valley. Join a park ranger at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center for a cross-country ski tour. Children under 8 years of age are not allowed on this activity. You must provide your own skis and poles with large baskets.
Snowshoe in the Kawuneeche (Beginner)
Saturdays, February 6 – March 20, 2010 1 p.m., two hours
Saturdays, December 12, 2009 – March 20, 2010, 9 a.m., two hours

Join a beginner level snowshoe tour with a ranger. Meet at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center. Please bring your own snowshoes and ski poles with large baskets. Children under 8 years of age are not allowed on this activity.
Snowshoe in the Kawuneeche (Intermediate)
Sundays, December 13, 2009 – March 14, 2010, 1 p.m., two hours
Reservations are required, and may be made no sooner than 7 days in advance.*
Take an intermediate level 2-hour snowshoe tour with a ranger. This is a more rigorous tour with altitude gains of up to 500’ and requires the ability to maintain a good pace on uneven terrain. Meet at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center. Please bring your own snowshoes and ski poles with large baskets. Children under 8 years of age are not allowed on this activity.
Kids' Snowshoe
January 9, February 6 & March 6, 2010, 10:30 a.m., 1.5 hours
Reservations are required, and may be made no sooner than 7 days in advance.*
Join a ranger for a kid-friendly snowshoe adventure. Ages 6-12 are welcome with an adult. Dress warmly in layers. Bring your own snowshoes and optional ski poles with large baskets.

The Kawuneeche Visitor Center is located in Rocky Mountain National Park, 1.5 miles north of Grand Lake, CO, on Trail Ridge Road (Highway 34). It is open daily except for Christmas Day. For information call 970-627-3471.
