Sherrill Drive is OPEN. Bingham Drive, Ross Drive, Morrow Drive and Ridge Road remain closed. Conditions on all park roads will continue to be monitored for safety.
March 10 Road Closure: Beach Drive between Rock Creek & Potomac Parkway and Porter Street, NW
On March 10th from 9:30 a. m. until 2:30 p. m., Beach Drive will be closed between Rock Creek & Potomac Parkway and Porter Street, NW for maintenance work on the zoo tunnel.
Road Closures during Rock Creek Park Deer Reduction Operations
Temporary night-time road closures will be in effect during reduction activities which may occur January 2 through March 31, 2014.

Rock Creek Park Hosts Healthy Parks Healthy People TRACK Trail Dedication

Washington D.C. - On Sunday September 23, the National Park Service (NPS) and its partners will celebrate the Healthy Parks Healthy People Initiative with a dedication of the Kids in Parks TRACK Trail program in Rock Creek Park. A 1.8 mile trail in Rock Creek Park will be officially designated a TRACK Trail during a ribbon cutting ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at Picnic Grove #2 west parking lot, located at the intersection of Beach Drive and Broad Branch. The event is FREE and open to the public.
The Kids in Parks TRACK Trail program is designed to connect healthcare providers and their patients with parks and public lands which will expand and strengthen the fight against obesity and reconnect youth and families with their natural environment. TRACK Trails is a program of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation which offers outdoor activities for youth and present families with easily accessible ways to get outside for nature education and physical activity.
The ceremony will include remarks from Rock Creek Park Superintendent, Tara Morrison; Jason Urroz, Director, Kids in Parks, Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation; and Dr. Robert Zarr, past President, DC Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics.
Following the ribbon cutting, Dr. Zarr, will write DC park prescriptions for children participating in the event. The TRACK Trail in Rock Creek Park begins and ends at the Picnic Grove #2 parking lot (4100 Broad Branch Road at Beach Drive NW).Event will take place rain or shine. All ages are welcome.
