Many brochures are available to download as pdf files, so you can print them out and review them before you come to the park. Most of these brochures are also available at the visitor center when you arrive. Some of our publications have a lot of graphics so they can be very large--please be patient when downloading these. In honor of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the Battle of the River Raisin the United States Postal Service issued this commemorative cache available for a limited time only at the Visitor Center.
The envelope depicts Frenchtown during the battle and was taken from a painting by artist Tim Kurtz. The special cancellation stamp developed just for the cache, is by artist Darlene Belair.

Did You Know?
The Battle of Frenchtown (Battle of the River Raisin in Monroe Michigan) was the largest battle fought on Michigan soil. This battle was a major defeat for the Americans and was one of the bloodiest engagements during the War of 1812. The massacre of some wounded solders the following day shocked and enraged Americans throughout the Old Northwest Territory. This incident soon became know as “The River Raisin Massacre” and the rallying cry was “Remember the Raisin”. More...
