Getting Around

Start your visit at the Civil War Visitor Center at Tredegar Iron Works, located at 470 Tredegar Street in downtown Richmond. Park rangers will provide maps for touring the battlefields. Cassette tapes and CDs for the Seven Days battles around Richmond, 1862, are available for sale at the Civil War Visitor Center's book store.

Did You Know?
Of the 12,738 reported Federal casualties for the battle of Cold Harbor, nearly one in six belonged to a heavy artillery regiment. These units earned the nickname “Red Leg Infantry” because the facings on their uniforms were scarlet, rather than the regulation sky-blue of the regular infantry.
