Hingham/Cohasset, Massachusetts

The National Park Service's Federal Lands to Parks program transferred 3,631 acres of the Hingham Naval Ammunition Depot Annex and U.S. Army Reserve Training Center to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Today Wompatuck State Park, just a 35-minute drive from downtown Boston, provides visitors with some of the best camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and bicycling in the Commonwealth. An unusual feature of the park is Mt. Blue Spring, which provides fresh drinking water to the public for free.
