The Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department has finally completed the North Regional segment of Rice Creek Water Trail with the acquisition of 112 acres of land bordering Rice Creek from the U.S. Army’s Twin Cities Ammunition Plant. This property transfer opened a critical one-mile segment of Rice Creek formerly closed to the public, thereby opening 22 miles of uninterrupted water trail to recreational paddlers. The land transfer was made possible by the National Park Service’s Federal Lands to Parks program. A walking and bicycling trail that parallels the creek was included in the development.
