Belle Plaine, Kansas
The Bartlett Arboretum is a private 15-acre park in rural Belle Plaine that features formal gardens with experimental plots and nurseries. The arboretum largely reflects the influences of professional landscape architect and horticulturist Glenn Bartlett and his wife and floral expert, Margaret. Glenn’s father first purchased the property in 1910 to be used as a public athletic field for the small community. It evolved from the small recreational park and conservation area it was to the arboretum it is today. Bartlett Arboretum was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on April 19, 2010.
