Composer Erik DeLuca works with students from the Denali Borough School District to interpret the winter soundscape of Denali. Erik spent a week at the snowbound Savage Cabin, Mile 13 along the Park Road recording natural sounds and creating notes for an original composition based upon the experience. Post residency Erik took students from the Denali Borough School District on a field trip in the park to explore the winter soundscape and create poetry based upon their experiences. Naturally, group discussion, turned to the nature of silence and how artists interpret the silence of these natural spaces. The students poetry along with sounds from Erik's residency are available on the park website.
