Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park completed and submitted its Social Media Strategy to the Southeast Regional Office in January 2012 and immediately began reaching out to new audiences via Facebook. As a result of this new media outlet administered by the park, digital visitor contacts and physical visitor contacts at the park have increased. Not only has this been a way to provide information concerning special programs and projects to visitors, but it has also been an interactive forum for them to learn new and exciting things about the park's history. Facebook is also utilized by the park to keep visitors up-to-date on potential hazards within the park and to connect with other national parks throughout the National Park Service system.

The park currently has 1,314 official "likes" (people following the park page on a regular basis), but "reaches" (people who view the page inadvertently) an average 6,000 digital visitors a week! It is the park's goal to have at least 1,863 "likes" by the sesquicentennial in 2013.
