On April 17 & 22 Chubby Carrier visited Cloutierville School and Weaver Elementary. Chubby, who was born in the small town of Church Point has gone on to become one of the world's most well known zydeco musicians. Chubby shared his inspirational story while also discussing the origins of zydeco music. The Cane River region was once home to numerous night clubs and dance halls that routinely showcased local and nationally known blues jazz, creole, and zydeco musicians. These programs intended to remind student about their community's rich musical legacy. These programs were made possible by funding from the Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative.
