This year's Junior Ranger day featured an awesome cigar-box guitar activity. Children were able to build their very own cigar box guitars while listening to acclaimed cigar box guitarist Mike Snowden. Cigar-box guitars date back to the 19th century. Modern musical genres like blues and rock & roll can trace their origins back to the roots music created on southern plantations using cigar-box guitars and other homemade instruments. This activity was made possible by funding from the Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative.
