On February 15, park staff and 40 first and second graders from Cloutierville School participated in the annual Great Backyard Bird Count. This activity took place at the Cloutierville school campus, a short distance from the park's Magnolia Plantation unit. The group observed red-winged blackbirds, red-tailed hawks, crows, and turkey vultures. Park ranger Jo Ann St. Clair submitted the reuslts to the Great Backyard Bird Count website, which helps scientists monitor bird populations around the globe.
