In partnership with Coming of Age and the San Francisco Senior Center, park Interpreters recently welcomed aboard seventeen new VIPs aged 50+. Twenty-two hours of training prepared them to assist with interpretation and staff public contact stations. One of their first assignments was helping to bridge generational and cultural divides at a park summer camp serving San Francisco's underserved youth. This new program not only harnesses the talents, skills and energy of one of our country's most valuable resources, it offers them a way to stay active, contribute to their community, and engage in lifelong learning.
