2012

May 1, 2012 marked the 450th anniversary of the landing of French Huguenots at the mouth of the St Johns River. Prior to the anniversary, park staff worked with exhibit designers to add seven new and updated outdoor exhibits to the interpretive media at Fort Caroline National Memorial. The new exhibits featured glimpses into the lives of those early French colonists, who came seeking religious freedom in the new world. The large memorial exhibit, seen in the background of the photo, features a list of the individuals and their positions on the expedition.
