The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site held a summer camp to encourage local underserved youth to learn more about the natural and cultural resources at the park and also educate them about the purpose and mission of the National Park Service.  The summer camp was held in the summer of 2012 and attracted over 20 campers from the local area.  It was a four day summer camp focused on a variety of National Parks, Seashores, Monuments and Historic Sites. Daily activities were offered in recreation, community service, science, history and art and on the last day of camp, all campers were sworn in as Junior Park Rangers.
