Several days after September 11th, Mount Rainier sent their Chief Ranger to New York City to join a Critical Incident Stress Management team, a "peer support" program, of 14 National Park Service professionals.
The Ranger provided peer support to employees of Parks in New York City to help them begin a process of acceptance and adjustment to the tragedy they experienced.
"…I think that that's something that we really need to address, that it's not over. Those employees are still having to deal with their personal experiences, as well as how they are going to interpret that to the public…"
