Support Your Park
We Can't Do It Alone!
Redwood Parks Association is a non-profit cooperating association established to foster understanding, enjoyment and stewardship of our public lands through educational outreach, visitor services and support of our partners entrusted with the care of public lands along California's north coast. Proceeds from sales at visitor centers and our online store are returned to the parks to fund special events, exhibits, signs and publications, including this visitor guide.

Elk once ranged over most of the United States from Maine to New Mexico. By 1860, the eastern elk had been eliminated by hunters. By 1912, about 124 Roosevelt elk remained in northern California. Prairie Creek Redwood State Park became an elk refuge in 1923 where elk are common today.
