Redwood Parks Association (RPA) is a not-for-profit cooperating association established to aid and support the interpretive programs within Redwood National and State Parks and other public lands along California's North Coast. Proceeds from sales at visitor centers and online (www.redwoodparksassociation.org) are returned directly to the parks to support interpretive staffing needs, special events, exhibits, signage, and publications.

Elk once ranged over most of the United States from Maine to New Mexico. By 1860, the eastern elk had been eliminated by hunters. By 1912, about 124 Roosevelt elk remained in northern California. Prairie Creek Redwood State Park became an elk refuge in 1923 where elk are common today.
