  • Davison Road Maintenance begins 7/7/2014. Expect delays.

    Beginning July 7, road crews will be grading sections of Davison Road between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm. Visitors to Gold Bluffs Beach and Fern Canyon should expect 30 minute delays.

  • Warning: Elk Calving Season, Elk Can Be Aggressive

    Female (cow) elk are defensive of their newly born calves. As people approach, a cow may charge and/or rear up and lash out with her front legs. For your safety, STAY 500 FEET AWAY from elk, at all times. More »

  • Coastal Drive Loop Re-opens to ONE-WAY TRAFFIC ONLY

    Access the loop via West Klamath Beach Road; turn left on Alder camp Road, which will later veer north and merge with Coastal Drive. Coastal Drive will then merge back into West Klamath Beach Road to complete the loop. More »

Entrance/Day-Use

  • National Park: Redwood National Park is free to visit!
  • California State Parks: Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast, and Prairie Creek Redwoods state parks collect day-use fees at campground entrance stations. These 3 state parks honor the America The Beautiful: National Park and Federal Lands Passes.

Fee-Free Days 2014
All park entrance/day-use fees within Redwood National and State Parks are waived on the following days:

  • January 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • February 15-17: Presidents Day weekend
  • April 19-20: National Park Week’s opening weekend
  • August 25: National Park Service’s 98th birthday
  • September 27: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11: Veterans Day

Camping

Education Facilities
The Howland Hill Outdoor School and Wolf Creek Education Center are available by reservation only. Fees apply.

The famous drive-through giant sequoia in the Mariposa Grove of Yosemite National Park fell in 1969 under heavy snow. Today there are three coast redwood drive-through trees along Highway 101 in northern California. All are on private property and charge admission.
