Pacific Great Basin
From fossil records that reflect the changing landscape and climate, as mountain ranges rose from volcanic activity; to the cultures of the Native Americans, early Spanish explorers, and later American expeditions, the vast and scenic areas of the Pacific Great Basin parks cover a rich and colorful history and prehistory. Exploring our California and Nevada national parks, you will retrace history as it actually happened. You will learn how Native Americans, and determined pioneers lived and adapted to the land, and each other, as the nation expanded westward. You'll also confront the memories of conflicts fought to control these rough hewn lands, and the Pacific coastal areas. Like millions of other visitors, you will stand face to face with unique natural and historic wonderment.
