Common name: Pride of Madeira Origin: Madeira Uses: Grayish-green foliage with spikes of blue flowers in rounded bush form. Tolerates coastal conditions and does not require summer water. Flowers attract bees. Introduced in the late 1940’s by Mr. Reichel. He acquired a plant from Los Angeles nurseryman, Hugh Evans. The plant has naturalized on the Island and continues to spread because the conditions mimic its native Canary Islands.
