Public Event to Commemorate the Final Breaching

The Park Service and PRNSA will be hosting a public event during which the levees  in the East Pasture will be finally breached by a high tide.

·        On Sunday, October 26, the Dairy Mesa will be opened to the public at 10 a.m. for people to view the tides from this vantage point. Spotting scopes will be available.

·        On Sunday, October 26, at 10:30 a.m., visitors will be able to walk out with Park and PRNSA staff to see the high tide at its peak in one of the newly created tidal channels off Lagunitas Creek. (Those interested in a panoramic view of the high tide can hike to the end of the Tomales Bay Trail, however, be aware that it is a 1-mile hike, and trail conditions are not optimal.) Heavy rain will cancel event.

·        Starting at 1 p.m., PRNSA and the park will host an open house event at the Red Barn at the Seashore`s administrative headquarters. There will be exhibits commemorating the project, and key staff and consultants that have worked on the project will be present. Welcome statements will be at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served. RSVP to 415-663-1200 x304. The event ends at 3 p.m.
