Whether you wish to volunteer for an hour, a day, a week, or longer, there are opportunities for you to get involved as a volunteer at Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site. The following are current or upcoming volunteer opportunities:

  • Visitor Services Volunteers (ongoing)
Volunteers assist interpretive staff in providing visitor services at the Park's Visitor Center (examples: giving tours, providing informal information, etc)
  • America's Best Idea (Sept. 26, 2009)
Volunteers are encouraged to help Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site through taking part in our Park cleanup (9:00am-4:00pm). Please help us make America's Best Idea even better. Join us for a national day of service and celebration in your 391 national parks.

If you would like more information about volunteering, please contact the Park Visitor Center at (808) 882-7218 Ext. 1011.

Black crowned night heron

Did You Know?
Of the many birds that you can find at Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site, most are invasive species. The Black crowned night heron, however, has long been in Hawai'i. You will usually spot them along the shore and around the remains of the ancient fishpond.
