If you wish to provide your own program for your school group while visiting the Park, no prior approval from the Park is required. Please consider the following when providing your own program:

  • Always ensure that your group stays on maintained trails (unless at Pelekane Beach or on the Educational field at Park Headquarters).
  • Encourage your students and adults to practice "No Trace" principles when visiting the Park.
  • Park rangers are available if you or your students have any questions.

 

Pu'ukohola Heiau and Mailekini Heiau  

Did You Know?
There are actually three temples at Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site: Pu'ukohola Heiau, which was built by Kamehameha, Mailekini Heiau, which was converted into a fort with cannons and Hale o Kapuni Heiau, which was a temple dedicated to the worship of sharks.
