$500,000 Downtown Recreation Center: The UPARR grant will renovate this 68-year old structure, closed in 2000 because of health and safety violations. Re-opening will restore 35 percent of city recreation services lost by closure of the center to serve 23 percent of the city population. Work will include upgrades to the electrical and mechanical systems, energy efficient windows, and rehabilitation of the gym floor and restroom facilities.

$210,000 Hart-McAlister Center Rehabilitation: This project, in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Hampton Roads, will result in the rehabilitation and reopening of the Hart-McAlister Center for use by the general public. Improvements will include roof and rest room repair.

$194,950 Thomas B. Smith Recreation Center: The city will partner with the Richmond Recreation Parks and Community Facilities Foundation to improve this facility which was targeted for closure the past three years. The building will be renovated to replace a leaking roof, electrical heating and cooling improvements and accessibility.
