GRANT OFFERED:

City Mayor Grant Amount Projects
Gary Mayor Scott King (219-881-5075) $250,000 Buffington Park: The city proposes to renovate the Buffington Park swimming pool, bathhouse, and outdoor recreational spaces. The swimming pool was constructed during the mid 1970s. It is now closed due to its deteriorated and unsafe condition. The green space and playground have greatly deteriorated and are being used little by the neighborhood residents. The goal is to restore the park and pool into an attractive and safe recreational space for area residents.
Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson (317-327-3601) $500,000 Willard Park: The pool at this site is in danger of closing because of a crumbling wall in the deep end that can no longer be repaired, a concessions building that is not operational because of needed maintenance and repairs; and a basketball court that is improperly located in the back of the park, which leads to negative, unsafe behavior. The end goal is to restore this area to its former state, as a place that the entire community can be proud to call its own.
