Wentworth Gardens Park Rehabilitation: A grant to the city
of Chicago will allow the Chicago Park District to rehabilitate
the existing field house, landscape the surrounding park, and
improve recreational programming at Wentworth Gardens Park. This
is the only park within walking distance from the adjacent Chicago
Housing Authority public housing development.
The field house, constructed in 1947, has seriously deteriorated,
but remains a viable site for much needed recreational and other
services. Proposed repairs include the roof removal and replacement;
window replacement; door replacement; plumbing, mechanical, and
electrical systems replacement.
