February 2010
Last summer into the fall, I was part of a 3 woman team who trained for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day 60 mile walk for breast cancer. We did most of our training out in the forest. The single lane for walking was perfect, Burma provided great hill action and South Valley trail added even more variety for us. The couples guarding over the campground in their RV were always there to greet us! Hope to see them all again this year! Thanks for maintaining it so well for those of us who use it a lot! - Cassandra, "Paddys Angels"

Prince William Forest Park is my favorite place in life to go! I hike in the park with my dog just about every weekend and never get tired of the beauty and peaceful feeling from walking the trails! - Lori Leary

And Prince William Forest Park is too.

Dear Rangers,
I just wanted to express my appreciation. My daughter (age 7) and I just spent a night camping in your backcountry area. We also visited your visitor center, where she completed the workbook and became a junior ranger. Your park is a real treasure, being so close to my home in Washington DC. And your staff is wonderful: helpful, friendly, and professional. Even your website is great. Keep up the good work! I look forward to my next visit!

Pyrite

Did You Know?
Because of its abundance and high sulfur content, Pyrite, also known as "Fool's Gold," was once mined in what is now Prince William Forest Park (1889-1920) to be used in products ranging from light bulbs to soap.
