Freshwater Marsh Community

The freshwater marsh community is composed of plants that grow in areas with perennial flooding or saturated soil and in areas where the water table is perched near the ground surface. The community is dominated by cattails, rushes, sedges, willows, ferns, and tules. Typical Sites at the Presidio: Freshwater marsh is found around the edge of Mountain Lake, along the bluffs near Fort Point, and in the back dune area at the east end of Crissy Field.
