The 24th Annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Drakes Beach was a great success with about 65 sculptures entered. The event was well attended by over one thousand participants and observers. The weather was overcast and mild, but a good day was had by all.

Did You Know?
Four species of pinnipeds (seals and sea lions) rest onshore or breed at Point Reyes: the Northern elephant seal (Mirounga angustirostris), the harbor seal (Phoca vitulina), the California sea lion (Zalophus californianus), and the Steller sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus).
